What was the Government doing while I worked all those years?
And why was it that I missed what was going on?
DID I MISS IT ALL BECAUSE I WORKED ALL MY LIFE?
From the time I started to work there was no time to watch news or even much time to do the essential things that needed to be done. For over 15 years I worked 10-12 hours a day with no weekends off. Time to watch TV? No way. I barely had time to get home, take a bath, eat, and go to bed, getting up at 4am to start all over again. By the time I finished with this routine I was retirement age but still couldn’t afford to retire. I retired anyway in protest.
How many other people in the United States live with this kind of routine? Even if they don’t work as many hours as I did, I’m sure there are thousands that are so busy with the responsibilities of simply living and taking care of a family that have little to no free time for anything else.
But, it was at that point I started watching the news, and I was in for a big surprise. Over a period of 4 years, I watched the news become about local stuff that had nothing to do with what was really going on.
I kept asking myself:
“Where is the news?”
“Did they eat it up?”
“Was it swallowed by someone?”
BECAUSE THE NEWS DOES NOT REPORT THE NEWS ANY MORE? (Also see my recent post on who owns the media)
Gradually, but regularly news that you could find on the internet, or on a few stations became about . . . NOTHING. Well, nothing but lotteries, advertising, the local clown fest, and nothing that was news.
And I also found, quite by accident, that if I stayed up late till early in the morning I could get some of the real news. For instance PBS had news on at 2-3 am. But that routine can really screw up a sleeping schedule. And it also begs the question. Why would they put real news on at a time that nobody that lives would ever SEE IT? Who, except someone that doesn’t work would ever stay up till 3am to find a news program? Most nobody that I know.
The national networks even did not display the whole truth, but instead became biased in one direction. They would leave information out, not report the whole story, many times not even reporting a story that was significant to everyone in this nation. What news that was reported was very biased.
And over these last four years it has become extremely strange in this respect. This total absence of news started becoming very fishy in my mind. I wondered if anyone else had noticed this lack of news?
DID I MISS IT ALL BECAUSE I DIDN’T HAVE CABLE or DISH TV (pay tv)?
Hey, I didn’t have the money or time to get these things. Therefore IF I had time to watch anything, it had to be over antenna tv. Question: How many people still don’t have or cannot afford to have Cable or Dish TV? I guess they gotta get their news from the same antenna tv that I did (but first you have to have time to watch it)
WAS IT BECAUSE I COULDN’T AFFORD THE INTERENET OR EVEN A COMPUTER?
Well, I DID have a computer and internet. But I didn’t even have time to check email because I was WORKING. But what about all those thousands of people that don’t have a computer, don’t know how to use one if they did? Or those, like me, that didn’t have time?
WAS IT BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT DOESN’T TELL CITIZENS ANYTHING?
You would think that there would be some kind of newsletter (you pay for everything else with your taxes) You would think there would be some kind of notification from the government whenever they pass any kind of bill that affects your whole life. (you pay for every OTHER kind of pamphlet they put out, even if it doesn’t involve you)
It is inconcievable to me that I work like a dog for years, furnish the money to pay the paychecks of someone else, furnish the money to pay for people who don’t work, and they cannot even put out some kind of thing that tells what they are working on that affects my life.
What do American Citizens do if they can’t get the information they need to maintain some semblance of what is going on in their own country? And how do people that have time to figure this out get information to people that don’t have Internet, pay tv, or whatever?
And key to this is: How do you tell people who don’t have access to the real news about the real news. You can post it on the internet all you want, but if someone doesn’t have a computer and knows how to use one, how do you get that information out?
If someone doesn’t have time to watch tv, how do you get information about the real news to them?
Any ideas? I need ideas. Oho, here’s one:
Lists of things that the U.S. Government didn’t tell you. And that will be my next article I think.
